COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: A 35-year-old man was discovered unconscious in his bed inside a dormitory in the residential treatment unit of the Cook County Prison on Friday, March 3. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County medical examiner's office reports that Carol Stream resident Melvin Turner was declared dead in the jail at 9.19 am. Employees in the RTU unit of the jail discovered Turner unconscious in his bunk, according to a news release from the Cook County Sheriff's office. Officials say no foul play as they wait for an autopsy The Cermak Health Services team started performing life-saving procedures while waiting for paramedics from the Chicago Fire Department to arrive after the officials dialed 911, the Chicago Tribune reported.
